January, 14, the 2nd governing council of China Siyuan project poverty-relief foundation held the 5th session. Standing committee member of the NPC, chairman of China Democratic National Construction Association, Chairman of the council Chen Changzhi, deputy secretary-general of the NPC standing committee Zhang Shaoqin, standing committee member of the CPPCC, deputy council chairman of the foundation Liu Hanyuan, as well as council members and representatives attended the meeting.
The conference examined and adopted 2011 work report and 2012work plan of the Foundation as well as work report of 3 special funds.
Secretary General Li Xiaolin made annual work arrangement report and special fund work report. Since the establishment of the foundation, over 2 million people in need have received help. In 2011, over 300,000 people in poverty were benefited from the foundation.
In 2007, “China Siyuan Program• Sunshine Project” launched by China Democratic National Construction Association was initiated. This program aims to send high-quality, high-efficiency and eco-friendly household electricity to underdeveloped regions, especially densely inhabited areas of ethnic minorities. For this goal, Tongwei budgets an annual fund of 5 million RMB for 10 consecutive years for scientific solar energy research and new products R &D.
