Tongwei Forum of Creating Wealth by Technology, Fujian

July, 18, themed with ’the Power of Science and Technology’, the Annual Tongwei Forum of Creating Wealth by Technology was held in Xiamen Fujian. Based on the status quo of local farming techniques, features of farmed species, and frequent epidemic diseases, the forum held audience-oriented advanced farming technique promotion and efficient farming model sharing, with a focus on prawn farming, fish disease control as well as ’Tongwei 365 healthy efficient farming model’. Additionally, the forum unveiled global project acquisition and evaluation method for the First Tongwei Science and Technology Innovation Fund, attracting the attention of dozens of media including CCTV.

For the pressing demand of changing China’s traditional farming technique in the rural markets, Tongwei has organized and held over 3,000 tech trainings and promotions of different scales at major aquaculture, livestock and poultry farming regions since this April.

The forum at Xiamen invited professors, experts and elites from universities, colleges, feed industry association, agriculture and forestry irrigation bureau, to communicate, discuss and share views with over 300 dealers and farmers on modern farming techniques and efficient farming experiences. With regard to the extensive shrimp farming status quo at the most centralized and crucial farming coastal areas in South China, Mr. Lai Qiuming, former deputy dean of Ocean Institute of Hainan University, brought forward the key control points on prawn healthy farming of larvae select breeding, eating habit, nutrient requirements, epidemic status diagnose and treatment, and water environment management. Wang Kaiyu, Dean of Medical College for Animals, Sichuan Agricultural University, introduced effective fish disease prevention methods, targeting at local fish disease features and eco-preventive treatment.

The forum analyzed the overall status quo of Fujian’s aquaculture business: 1. Technique: lack in innovation competence and research fruits, too dependent on traditional experience and foreign techniques; 2.Market: farming opportunism is common among farmers. Short-term benefit is blindly pursued, which leads to high production at regional markets, yet with low output, low efficiency, resources and environment deterioration, and unsustainable development. Therefore, Tongwei shared its latest farming technique finding of ’365 Healthy Efficient Farming Model’ with dealers and farmers. The prominent features and practical value of the model is that each water surface only selects 3-4 fish species with different functions, and strictly adopts 6 major techniques of ’precise combination feeding, balanced aeration configuration, microalgae adjustment and control, fish disease and epidemic prevention, one technique, bottom pollution discharge’.  Output thus can be improved with lower cost per unit, enabling a stable growth in profit per mu (1 mu ≈ 666 sq.m.) of over 50%. This unique farming model and its matching core technique has received high attention within the sector, and been entitled another "Tongwei Phenomenon".

Tongwei Co., Ltd. President Yan Hu interviewed by CCTV

The highlight of the forum was the announcement of global project acquisition and evaluation method for the First Tongwei Science and Technology Innovation Fund. April, 19, Tongwei set up the ’Tongwei Science and Technology Award Fund’ with an input of ¥RMB 100 million for the global acquisition of research findings in agriculture and animal husbandry domains. Two months later, the final project acquisition and evaluation method were finalized. According to Mr. Yan, the project acquisition, concerning mainly about farming techniques, is targeted to all participants and institutes within the sector, with the classification of tech-project award, individual award for research, and individual award for application, each rewarding 3-5 items (persons). The award amount depends on the actual value generated after project application transfer, with the highest award of RMB¥ 1 million per item. All materials shall be submitted to the Office of Tongwei Co., Ltd. Technology Center by September, 30, 2013. In addition, the Tongwei aqua-tech award will be set up for recipients in research and application, and will be presented in April each year at the Tongwei Aquaculture Science and Technology Forum.

This is reportedly to be the authority award with the best quality, most influence, and highest amount in China’s or even the world’s aquaculture domain, which is a living testimony of Tongwei’s technology-driven core competitiveness, integrating internal and external resources for actual productivity for society, and wealth creation for dealers, farmers and customers.
